Lisfranc Injury
A Lisfranc injury affects the ligaments and bones of the midfoot, typically caused by trauma, such as twisting the foot or a heavy object falling on it. This injury can range from ligament sprains to severe fractures or dislocations, resulting in significant pain, swelling, and difficulty bearing weight on the affected foot. Without prompt treatment, a Lisfranc injury can lead to chronic pain and arthritis. Treatment may involve immobilization, but more severe injuries often require surgical stabilization to ensure proper healing and restore function.
