Big toe (MTP-I) Arthritis
Big toe (MTP-I) Arthritis: This condition affects the joint at the base of the big toe, known as the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joint. In mild cases, patients may experience occasional pain, stiffness, and swelling, especially during activity. As the arthritis progresses, the joint may become severely inflamed and lose flexibility, making everyday activities like walking painful. Severe cases can lead to significant joint damage, bone spurs, and even fusion of the joint, limiting toe movement altogether. Treatment depends on the severity and aims to reduce pain and restore function.
