Hallux Valgus (Bunion)
Hallux valgus, commonly known as a bunion, is a deformity where the big toe leans toward the other toes, creating a prominent bump on the side of the foot. This condition can cause discomfort, swelling, and irritation, especially when wearing tight or ill-fitting shoes. Over time, the misalignment can worsen, leading to restricted movement in the big toe and more severe pain. It may be caused by genetics, improper footwear, or arthritis. Without treatment, a bunion caninterfere with walking and make it difficult to find comfortable shoes.
