Total Ankle Replacement

Total ankle replacement is a surgical procedure in which a damaged ankle joint is replaced with an artificial implant. It is typically recommended for patients with severe arthritis who have not found relief with other treatments. The goal of the surgery is to relieve pain, restore joint mobility, and improve the patient’s overall quality of life. Unlike ankle fusion, which eliminates motion, a total ankle replacement allows for more natural movement of the joint.
