Subtalar Joint Arthritis

This type of arthritis affects the subtalar joint, located just below the ankle, which is responsible for side-to-side foot movement. Arthritis in this joint can occur after an injury or as a result of long-term wear and tear. Symptoms include pain when walking on uneven surfaces, stiffness, and difficulty with side-to- side motion. In advanced cases, the joint may become stiff and painful even during rest. Treatment focuses on reducing pain and improving mobility, with options ranging from conservative therapies to surgery, depending on the severity.
